their communities. Job Description: The Developmental Therapist
provides specialized early intervention services to infants and
toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities under the
Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS). The therapist assesses
developmental needs, creates individualized intervention plans, and
delivers therapies to support the child's cognitive, physical,
social, and emotional development. The therapist works
collaboratively with families and other professionals to create a
nurturing and supportive environment that promotes optimal
development. Responsibilities: Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct
comprehensive developmental assessments to identify delays or
disabilities in infants and toddlers. Develop individualized family
service plans (IFSP) based on assessment results. Monitor and
evaluate the child's progress and adjust interventions as
necessary. Intervention Planning and Implementation: Develop and
implement tailored intervention strategies to address the specific
developmental needs of each child. Use evidence-based practices to
enhance developmental outcomes in areas such as motor skills,
communication, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional
development. Incorporate play-based and family-centered approaches
to engage children and caregivers in the intervention process.
Family Support and Education: Collaborate with families to
understand their goals and priorities for their child's
development. Provide education and training to parents and
caregivers on strategies to support their child's development at
home. Offer emotional support and resources to families to help
them navigate the early intervention process. Collaboration and
Coordination: Work closely with other early intervention
professionals, including speech therapists, occupational
therapists, physical therapists, and special educators. Participate
in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure coordinated and
comprehensive care. Communicate effectively with TEIS service
coordinators and other stakeholders to facilitate service delivery.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date
records of assessments, IFSPs, progress notes, and other relevant
documentation. Prepare and submit required reports and
documentation in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with TEIS
policies, procedures, and documentation standards. Professional
Development: Stay current with the latest research and best
practices in developmental therapy and early intervention. Attend
professional development workshops, conferences, and training
sessions. Participate in regular supervision and peer review
activities to enhance professional skills. Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood
Education, Special Education, Developmental Psychology,
Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology,
or a related field from an accredited institution. Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with infants and toddlers
with developmental delays or disabilities, preferably within an
early intervention setting such as TEIS. Certifications/Licenses:
Appropriate state licensure or certification in the relevant field
(e.g., Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Speech-Language
Pathologist, Special Education Teacher). Skills: Strong
understanding of child development principles and early
intervention strategies. Excellent assessment and analytical
skills. Ability to develop and implement individualized
intervention plans. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and
multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in documentation and
reporting. Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in play-based
activities with children. Ability to lift and carry children and
therapy materials as needed. Ability to travel to client homes,
early intervention centers, and other community settings. Must have
a valid driver's license and dependable vehicle Work Environment:
This position involves working in various environments, including
client homes, early intervention centers, and community settings
