Join Our Team! The Patel Lab at St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital is on a mission to change the future of childhood cancer
treatment. The lab of Dr. Anand Patel studies the control and
regulation of intratumoral heterogeneity within pediatric cancers.
We develop tools and methods to map the cellular diversity of
pediatric tumors. In current projects, we are working to elucidate
how individual cell state identities are dynamically regulated
during therapy and metastasis. We are searching for a candidate
that is independent and passionate about finding new treatments for
childhood cancer. Experience in animal xenografting, transcriptomic
profiling, and cell culture are desirable. Additional experience in
computational biology, 3D cell models, and single-cell sequencing
would be highly competitive. Candidates should possess strong
communication and interpersonal skills, be open to developing new
and cutting-edge methods, and be highly motivated. What You’ll Do
Lead a multidisciplinary team centered on the study of childhood
sarcoma, particularly with a focus on using paired in vivo/in vitro
models of metastatic sarcoma. Specifically, the candidate will be
expected to: Coordinate multiple aspects of research projects and
carry out laboratory experiments independently utilizing various
laboratory techniques, and determine whether additional or other
tools or methods are required. Troubleshoot experiments
independently and provide input regarding research protocols and
experiments. Set up protocols and assist in developing new
laboratory techniques, as required. Identify experimental data
pertinent to the analysis problem. Process, organize and summarize
data, reporting these experimental results as required. Monitor
quality and integrity of recorded information and data May draft
sections of research manuscripts, posters, and funding
applications. Provide basic lab operation support to include
equipment maintenance and purchasing. Monitor inventory levels and
orders lab supplies as needed. Perform calibration of instruments
and equipment. Troubleshoot instrument performance and equipment
issues. Instruct and educate other staff in basic laboratory
techniques and procedures. To oversee the lab’s mouse colony within
the state-of-the-art Animal Resources Center and to help maintain
the lab’s Animal Care protocol; Maintains regular and predictable
attendance Performs other related duties as assigned in order to
meet the goals of the department and institution. What We’re

transcriptomics, and molecular biology techniques. Additional
skills in computational biology, single-cell sequencing, or 3D
cancer models are highly competitive. Proven ability to work
independently while thriving in a collaborative team science
environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and
problem-solving skills. Passion for innovative cancer research and
commitment to developing new therapies for pediatric patients.

Be part of a dynamic team dedicated to studying both the biological
mechanisms of cancer recurrence and the molecular interactions
between tumors and their microenvironments. Cutting-Edge Science :
Utilize cutting-edge tools like single-cell sequencing, xenografts,
spatial transcriptomics, and computational biology to advance
pediatric tumor research with innovative models and analyses.
Mission-Driven Impact: Contribute to science that is driving real
change for children with cancer. St. Jude empowers researchers with
resources, support, and the institutional commitment necessary for
bold discoveries—helping improve outcomes for pediatric patients
