Coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties: Vendor selection, vendor qualification, vendor management, and effective systems to procure materials and services while maintaining satisfactory inventory levels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following while other duties may be assigned.Coordinates all activities related to procurement of high dollar commodities, beginning with intent to purchase through delivery.Seeks, captures, and reports cost savings monthly for direct materials & non-production related items which includes MRO (maintenance & repair orders). Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, spend, and data about the commodity while managing the MRP (Materials Requirement Planning) systems in Oracle.Solicits and evaluates RFQ (Request for quote) proposals for the requested commodity.Interfaces with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Service, Sales, Scheduling, Accounting, & Materials and other departments.Identifies, investigates, & selects potential suppliers for sourcing opportunities as needed.Manages effective supplier relationships.Negotiates and manages the cost for the commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.Updates standard costs on all commodities within Oracle.Implements purchase contracts that comply with company and government regulations.Performs Buy America Analysis, processes Nafta (USMCA), Harmonized tariff (HTS), & Country of Origin (COO) requests.Assures that the commodity is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to assure accurate retention of records.Coordinates appropriate methods needed to purchase commodities in a cost-effective manner.Processes ECN (Engineering Change Notice) & sends RFQ's to vendor.Attends the ADS (Application development system) meeting & processes for Purchasing Dept. Initiates PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process) requests for the Purchasing Dept. & manages NCMR's (Non-conforming material review). Travels to vendor locations as needed to review processes & foster supplier relationships.Attends production meetings, multiple internal meetings, & meetings with Corporate Sourcing members as required.Communicates with logistics company on any inbound & outbound trucking requirements or issues.Required Skills: Strong written and oral communications skills; must be able to read, comprehend, and write correspondence and reports; must be able to communicate with multiple levels of staff throughout the organization. Effective leadership, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are a must. Strong ability to build relationships. Strong attention to detail & the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Proficiency with off-the-shelf database applications such as Microsoft office with a strong focus on Excel. Statistical analysis skills; must be able to analyze trends and statistical data and make appropriate decisions and recommendations.Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Education and/or Experience: B.S. degree and/or five to ten years purchasing/sourcing experience is preferred.
