JOB SUMMARY/SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for planning and implementing educational programming with developmentally delayed clients or typically developing clients at the Center. The position is under the general supervision of the Program Director. Normal working hours are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for assisting with the general supervision and instruction of all clients in the assigned component in all developmental areas.2. Responsible for working in conjunction with the program coordinator/teacher to ensure that the individual program plan for each client in all areas of development is coordinated with goals set in the assigned developmental area with findings and scores coordinated with program coordinator/teacher or other technicians.3. Directly and primarily responsible for planning daily activities, methods, and techniques as well as monthly lesson plans and/or monthly goals in the assigned area of development for all clients enrolled in the component. Coordinating all instruction and implementation of these plans and goals with the program coordinator/teacher and/or other technicians on a regular basis.4. Responsible for diapering, changing client's clothes when necessary, disinfecting toys and equipment on a daily basis.5. Responsible for keeping daily records of progress as well as monthly and quarterly progress reports on each client.6. Responsible for participating in all intra-agency staffings, reviews, and team meetings.7. Responsible for attending all staff conferences and all intra-agency sessions, in-service training, and educational training as directed.8. Responsible for participating in an annual program evaluation.9. Responsible for working with parents in implementing goals for each client.10. Responsible for coordinating working time with the parent and client on developmental tasks when a parent is present or when applicable.11. Responsible for informing teachers of all equipment and supplies needed.12. Responsible for keeping abreast of developments in adult developmental services and/or early childhood education through reading relevant material on the subject matter.13. Responsible for maintenance and care of the assigned classroom and office supplies and equipment in the same.14. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: - High school diploma or equivalent.LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: - Must have current certification in Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid or obtain it within the first 30 days of hire. This will be provided by the Center.EXPERIENCE: - One year experience in working with developmentally delayed persons is preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Basic knowledge and understanding of developmentally delayed children/adults and training relevant to the physical handling of the developmentally delayed population is preferred.INTERPERSONAL REQUIREMENTS: - Oral, written, and interpersonal skills as required to exchange information with upper level management, department managers, teachers, and parents in a professional manner.- Contributes to a positive work environment and the overall team effort of the department.DIRECTION/SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS: - N/APHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Ability to lift clients, materials, adaptive equipment, and other items during the course of duties.- Ability to lift clients, materials, adaptive equipment, and other items up to 40 pounds for children and 50 pounds for adults.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: - General child care and/or adult care functionsOTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: - Understands and adheres to West Tennessee Healthcare's compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.- Assumes responsibility for insuring continued professional growth.- The employee is expected to adhere to all WTH policies and procedures.- Must meet all employment criteria as required by the Department of Human Services and the Division of Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities, Department of Education, and other licensing entities of Center programs.PROTECTED HEALTHCARE INFORMATION: Minimum Necessary Requirement: This position has access to protected health information as defined in the category in WTH Management Guidebook Policy 7625.
