Job Purpose Statement:The Dual Crew Operator will be able to operate the Pneumatic Tread Extruder and the Mixer. The Operators will split their daily hours between running extrusions and mixing compound on an as needed basis, per schedule set by management. All jobs within each job classification listed below will be a requirement of this position. The Dual Operator will be required to perform quality and training fucnctions as required by management.

  • The primary function of this position is to oversee the assembly of ingredients and the feeding of ingredients into the mixing mill.
  • Previews production schedule.
  • Instructs loaders as to what is going to be required.
  • Oversees the assembly and feeding of all ingredients.
  • Oversees supplying mixing mill batch by batch.
  • Conducts all Quality tests, monitors quality and adjusts ingredients to maintain required product standards.Extruder Operator
    • Demonstrates ability to understand and follow all safety related items associated with job
    • Explains the function and demonstrates correct usage of all other controls on machine as it relates to job duties and responsibilities
    • Identifies and explains the different types of stocks used at the tread line
    • Demonstrates the ability to set zone temperatures
    • Demonstrates the ability to select the proper tread die for each tread
    • Demonstrates the ability to setup and operate the tread line to run to specifications
    • Demonstrates the ability to take sample measurements of operating parameters and tread characteristics and enter data into the computer
    • Demonstrates the ability to feed salvage and rework back into the extruder
    • Demonstrates the ability to monitor and maintain tread cementing operations
    • Demonstrates the ability to produce consistent tread within specifications
    • Demonstrates the ability to operate stock feeder and adjust feed to match out feed to maintain a uniform bank on the mill or extruder
    • Demonstrates the ability to start a band of rubber around the mill roll
    • Demonstrates the ability to adjust mill roll gap and explains the purpose
    • Demonstrates the ablity to book or w/up componets to the required specifications.
    • Conducts all Quality checks, monitors quality and makes adjustments to maintain required product standards.
      • Understands and follows all safety rules associated with job (i.e. forklift, crane, static electricity, etc)
      • Explains standard work and 5S on a daily basis as it pertains to the job
      • Performs any other duties as necessarySummary of Responsibility
        • Understands and follows all safety rules associated with the job such as PPE, emergency response, and mill rescue
        • Explains and uses lean tools such as 5S, standard work, heijunka boards, kanbans, and hour-by-hour boards
        • Performs any other duties as necessary
        • Cuts and places tread on booking pans
        • Measures length, width, crown width, and weight
        • Sets up skiver
        • Print kanban cards and place on correct product
        • Assist with changeovers
        • Visually inspects tread for defects and knows how to properly scrap defects
        • Paints end cement on tread
        • Maintain required checks of power equipment
        • Deliver and scan tread to storage area property
        • Operate the scrap mill safely
        • Operate Sidewall spool wind ups
        • Load spools on/off carriers.Minimum Requirements:
          • High School diploma or equivalent education requirement
          • Legally authorized to work in the United States
          • Must be a certified in Tire Building
          • Must be willing to work any shift to cover business needs (temporary assignments included) and overtime
          • Associate in good standing (Attendance and Performance)
          • Successfully pass a background check (no felonies) and drug test
          • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid forklift license
          • Ability to obtain and maintain overhead crane license
          • Basic math skills
          • Reading comprehension skills
          • Ability to move and lift up to 50 lbs.Highly desired skills, knowledge, and experience
            • Previous manufacturing experience
            • Previous Extrusion and mixing experience.
            • Experience in lean, kaizen, and high performance work team
