Job Description:
A postdoctoral position is available to study the molecular and
cellular functions of primary cilia in brain development and
neurological disease. Primary cilia are essential signaling
organelles that regulate key developmental pathways, and their
dysfunction underlies a broad spectrum of neurodevelopmental
disorders and brain tumors. Understanding how cilia control neural
progenitor behavior at the cellular and molecular level is
therefore central to elucidating normal cortical development as
well as disease mechanisms. The successful candidate will
investigate fundamental aspects of cilia biology in neural
progenitors, including compartmentalized signaling and crosstalk
between cilia and other organelles. These studies will provide a
mechanistic framework for understanding how disruption of basic
cellular processes contributes to neuro developmental
abnormalities, neurodegeneration, and brain tumors. We seek a
highly motivated individual with a strong background and interest
in cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, or
neuroscience. Prior experience with organelle biology, signal
transduction, high-throughput screening, or advanced imaging is
welcome but not required. St. Jude is an Equal Opportunity Employer
