Jackson Job Summary This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty
position in Music beginning Fall 2022. This position is responsible
for teaching a variety of courses, fulfilling departmental and
university-wide faculty responsibilities, and maintaining an
appropriate level of scholarship in Music. Rank assignment
commensurate with education and experience. Union University is
accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. About
Union University Union University is a private, coeducational
liberal arts-based university offering bachelor's, master's, and
doctoral degrees. The campus is located in Jackson, Tenn. (80 miles
northeast of Memphis) with additional campuses in Germantown,
Hendersonville, and Memphis, Tenn. Union University currently

Essential Job Duties Teaching responsibilities include Symphonic
Band, applied lessons (brass, strings, or percussion preferred),
and Instrumental Music Education courses and Internships. Other
courses, including Chamber Ensembles, Commercial Music Technology,
Music Theory and Aural Skills, Commercial Arranging & Composition,
Worship Instrumental Techniques, and/or Symphony Orchestra may be
assigned predicated on the interests, qualifications, and
experiences of the applicant as well as on departmental needs.
Additional responsibilities encompass service to the department,
university, and community along with appropriate scholarly
activities. Further, the person who fills this position will
actively pursue relationships with area high school instrumental
directors and students for the purpose of recruiting students to
the Department of Music as well as developing the reputation of the
department in the region and beyond. Other Job Duties Required
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university
with a Master's degree in Music Education, Instrumental Conducting,
Brass Performance, Percussion Performance, String Performance, or a
related field is required. Additionally, certification in Music
Education with a minimum of 3 consecutive years of successful
teaching within K-12 schools is required. The successful applicant
will possess strong musical expertise, the ability to communicate
effectively, a love for teaching and learning, and the desire to
invest time and energy in the well-being and spiritual discipleship
of students, and the development of the Department of Music.
Preferred Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or
university with a terminal degree in Music Education, Instrumental
Conducting, Brass Performance, Percussion Performance, String
Performance, or a related field. Knowledge of music recording
technologies and experience in commercial arranging and composition
is desired. Christian Requirement Successful candidates must be

is of a general office and classroom nature. While performing the
duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to perform
the following:Speaking and hearing ability to sufficiently
communicate in person or over the telephone.Walk from office to the
classroom and from one campus office to another office/building on
campus.Spend extended periods of time sitting and standing with
occasional instances of bending and stooping. Classroom and
laboratory settings require periods of standing and sitting for the
duration of class (1 to 3 hours).Ability to lift and carry files
and materials, handle various types of media and equipment,
occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, unless
otherwise specified.Have adequate vision, hearing, and manual
dexterity to read words and numbers and interact with people in
person, on the phone, through a computer, and in writing. Requires
the ability to identify, observe, and assess visual color
discrimination and depth perception.Ability to reach with hands and
arms; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls (e.g.
mouse, keyboard, telephone, lab equipment). Sufficient hand, arm,
and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other
