JMS Russel Metals Corp Jackson, TN Job Description Title: Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Operator Job Summary: Transforms initial rough product designs using computer-aided design (CAD) into working documents. Job Requirements: ? Associate Degree with major course work in CAD, Industrial Design or Management is preferred, but not required ? Minimum of two (2) year's experience operating AutoCAD or other industrial design work ? Minimum of one (2) year's experience operating Solid Works/Solid Edge or other relevant 3D programming software. ? Ability to read and write English Language ? Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems ? Basic mathematics and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet) ? A "hands on" working knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD) System and other functions ? Working knowledge of the custom processing equipment capabilities Competencies: ? Communication: must be active listener, follow directions, recognize the value of others' opinions, talk with courtesy and respect, speak effectively regarding business manners ? Time Management: ability to meet job deadlines; prioritize work orders effectively ? Team player: works as a competent member of the team, willingly providing back-up support for co-workers when needed and actively supporting group goals ? Attendance & Punctuality: must demonstrate timely arrival & attendance and adapt to business needs schedule changes ? Judgment: exhibits sound judgment and makes reasonable decisions within scope of responsibility Physical Requirements: In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, lifting work pieces weighing up to forty (40) lbs. manually or by crane to work area and positioning it for processing the orders. Working Environment: The employee will be sitting at a desk (indoors) working on the CAD System computer terminal as well as work in an open warehouse and will be exposed to some or all of the following working conditions: Extreme Heat & Cold, Noise, Vibration, Ultra-Violet Light (produced from machine and requiring darkened safety glasses), Oils and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes and Metallic Particles. Employee will be exposed to the hazards of working with heavy machinery. Employee is required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and steel toed boots with metatarsal and hearing protection. When using grinders a full face shield is required in addition to safety glasses. JMS has the right to revise this job description at any time. Understands and follows all company safety policies and procedures.? Prepares lay-outs, drawings and designs according to engineering specifications from customers.? Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation and may analyze designs and retrieve any necessary details to complete drawing, layout or design? Works with the sales representative responsible for the sales order or quote? Works directly with customers for drawing information and verification? Utilizes SigmaNEST and Prime Cut NE for part nesting and generating machine codes.? Assists inside/outside sales reps and outlying service centers with CAD inquiries and programming.? Assists with managing processing schedule and posting.? Assists with processing documents to convert stock to finished goods.? Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
